🔦 I'm looking for a job 🔦

Handing over this charming mustachioed fellow to good hands

Roles

Team Lead / CTO (Golang / Node.js)
or
Solution / Software Architect

Stack

Go, Node.js, K8S, CI/CD, databases, Kafka and the like—everything included

I want to team lead or CTO (task management, strategic planning, client/C-level communication, hiring, firing, payroll, budgeting, etc.), but at least 30% of the time I want to write code.

Areas of interest

IoT – Been working on various IoT products for about 6 years, so I know the ropes when it comes to processing gigabyte data streams, writing state management actors for devices, hardware suitability assessments, writing firmware in C/C++, and even circuit design. Always interested in IoT work.

High Load – Beyond that, any high-load scenario where I need to write custom caching, crunch numbers to meet SLAs, design and set up geo-clusters with replication and sharding, and so on.

But above all, it depends on the team—with a great team, even CRUD can be paradise.

Work conditions

  • Remote
  • Based in Asia (+8), but can work with +0

Rocket Bank is being relaunched (:

    Saw it, saw it)

But it seems like none of the old guys are there, and for me, the point was the cool guys and trust in a great C-level.

Hi! Here's some unsolicited advice: reformat your English CV to an international standard if you're targeting that market.

    • Remove the photo
    • 1-2 pages
    • Describe what you did a bit more adequately. If you're looking globally, you need to rewrite it in terms of achievements, not just "I did this and that."
    • Put the summary at the very top; it's the most important part of the CV, and rewrite it.

What you wrote in this post sells incredibly well. What's written in the CV doesn't sell at all.

If you're ready for an active job search, I invite you to check out hirify.me for openings. It's a new platform, and I'm the founder, creating a killer job board alternative.

After reading the resume properly, please correct the comment and suggest something worthwhile, or I will delete it and you, because right now this is a lazily made advertisement for your project.

    • I'll keep the photo, I'm too handsome.
    • 1-2 pages are physically impossible due to the amount of work over 11 years.
    • In the resume, it is written in literally every point what exactly I implemented.
    • Instead of a summary, I have my technologies and books; this is non-standard simply because 95% of candidates don't have anything similar.

Real talk, I was preparing my resume for Big Tech: in Europe and America, photos are seen as a big minus and they only consider applications through referrals. The guys there really don't want to bother with non-standard CVs, so they reject them immediately 😬. I also had to fit 10 years of experience into 2 pages. Those are the rules of the game. But after the interviews, I decided that, overall, it's like it's not worth it in the end.

  • @ [ $davids.sh ] · # 1815

I'll be quite revolutionary for now and fuck off HR people who behave like this.

The product must find its customer.

I'm non-standard, my resume is non-standard, my mustache is standard.

This is now my job search slogan.

Heh, I'm actually looking for a job right now, I wanted to write to you - and it turns out you're looking too 😅

Bro, your resume is a classic XX format. It's suitable for the Russian market, but the global market has its own rules, and with such a CV, you won't get past the recruiter.

They use simple single-column templates like these, and they can easily fit 20 years of experience.

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yGZPYILbXT5mxL8FCYblg-FLYgk0Woj48lWQRn_SG7w/edit?tab=t.0

    https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1bl2LUq6lfXNA8ry533NMthooQpSac8OMpiW5FXYrYyQ/edit#slide=id.p

There's also Jake's resume template. As you can see, they are all similar, and it's not for nothing.

The global market doesn't know about Rocketbank (and doesn't read Cyrillic), which is why I said to rewrite it.

Your job descriptions have too much information; it can be repackaged into a concise few sentences, without detailing which specific company it was for (because a recruiter from the US won't know these names).

The fact that you have books is awesome and can be highlighted brilliantly in the summary. That's what it's for – so that a recruiter looks at it and becomes interested enough to look further.

Something like this already sounds very cool:

Senior Backend/Platform Engineer (Golang/Node.js), 11+ years experience. Built scalable systems for crypto, IoT, and internal PaaS platforms. Ex-CTO, tech lead, educator. Author of two books. Looking for high-impact backend/platform role in strong team.

Another example of how to describe experience:

Instead of "Developed crypto wallet system"

Designed and implemented scalable virtual wallet system supporting 100K+ active users and $XM in daily volume. Regarding the photo, why it can't be included – in the US/EU, an employer has the possibility of being sued by a candidate who was rejected if they think it was due to ageism or sexism. Therefore, it's easier for a recruiter to skip you than to take the risk.

The mustache is top-notch, I won't argue with that. But that's how it is.

In general, it's your choice whether to listen or not. I just saw a guy with very cool experience and a shitty CV and wanted to help.

And I created my service with the same goal. As you can see, it's free.

  • @ [ $davids.sh ] · # 1820

Wow, this is well-described and awesome, I like it

Thank you very much! I'll try to apply it and see the result

By the way, the service looks really cool, it's convenient and works fast, I'll try it out

  • @ [ $davids.sh ] · # 1830

(Turns out I posted this not as a reply)

I admit, you are absolutely right, I've redone my resume and want to hear more ideas

    Much better! Really good.

The only thing I personally don't like is still the project descriptions, in the sense that you're detailing individual projects within one company.

I would rewrite them in general terms without going into detail.

But again, this is just my opinion, and it would need testing.

It would also be good to bold the parts you want the recruiter's eye to catch. But the texts would need to be changed for that too.
